Starbucks Pike Place Roast

In line with our previous coffee reviews, I’m going to talk about the Pike Place Roast which is one of Starbucks’ strong, specialty roasts. Undoubtedly one of my comfort coffee choices, the Starbucks Pike Place Roast is just the right coffee when I feel like loosening up. I know there aren’t many fans of the Pike Place Roast, but it’s makes for a good cup. Not as appreciated as the other blends, but still good nonetheless.

Why do I call it comfort coffee? The reason is, you don’t have to be an expert on coffee to appreciate it. You don’t have to look for hints of this and that with the Pike Place Roast to know that it’s a great drink to start the day.

It may come off smooth when you drink it, but you’ll still get a rather robust drink out of it. The taste is consistent; I don’t detect a change in flavor from the first sip to the last drop. It’s a great drink to have, especially in the easy mornings where you don’t have to jolt yourself silly with really strong coffee.

Now, this is probably the reason why a lot of Starbucks followers don’t like the Pike Place Roast. It’s too mellow compared to the strong coffees Starbucks has earned its popularity for. But then again, not everybody wants to drink strong coffee all the time. To each his own I guess.

I’d like to know what you think of the Pike Place Roast, though. Do you hate it like the other Starbucks purists or are you okay with it?

I've seen plenty of people protesting against it, saying it's disgusting and this and that. It's all what you think really. I just stick to Frappuccino's.
