Part I – What You Need to Ask Yourself When Buying A Coffee Maker
Choosing coffee beans for your coffee is one thing, choosing your coffee maker is another. Some people don’t take the time to carefully consider the different features of the coffee maker, thus leaving them with something that doesn’t give them the coffee they desire.
The coffee maker’s feature-set is an important factor to consider when buying one. Here are some of the more important things you might want to check on your future coffee maker:
Is It simple and easy to use?
Simplicity is key. Go for simple coffee makers that have been specifically designed, calibrated, and tested to do just one function – to make great tasting coffee. Complicated coffee makers that claim to do this and that may leave you feeling confused on how to use it and never use it again.
Does it perform?
If you’re going to get a machine to make your coffee in the morning, make sure that it does the job right. Don’t settle for a machine that overdoes the job, neither should you settle for one that does the work half-baked. Some machines fail to fully extract the flavor while some produce burnt coffee tastes.
How do you like your coffee?
There are certain coffee makers that do specific jobs. For example, you can get a percolator, a drip coffee machine, or a French press for brewed coffee. For espresso lovers, nothing does it best than a dedicated espresso machine, although a French press can also do the trick. Again, your coffee preference will dictate the kind of machine you should get.
How much can you make in one go?
A lot of people complain about how little coffee they can make on one machine in one go. To avoid this problem, check how much water the reservoir so you can gauge how much coffee it can produce in one preparation.
There are still other factors you need to consider in choosing a good coffee maker, read about them on a follow-up article on this topic. If there’s anything you’d like to add to this, please feel free to tell us about it.
