Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso/Cappuccino Maker – ECM20
It’s been three straight coffee review sets and I’m looking for something to take my mind off coffee beans for the moment. So off to the World Wide Web I go to find some coffee-related gadget.
In my browsing, I found some coffee/cappuccino/espresso makers that I found rather interesting so I thought I’d given them a shot.
First up on the list is Mr. Coffee’s Steam Espresso/Cappuccino Maker ECM20. Appearance-wise, it looked stylish and modern. The round, sleek shape looked good on my kitchen counter top. At least from my point of view.
So let’s move on to how it faired when I used it. The machine is capable of producing high pressure steam, allowing it to brew through tightly packed coffee grounds. I’ve heard people say that it works best with so and so coffee brands, but I think it isn’t the brand that makes the coffee, it’s how you brew it. It actually makes 4 to 5 cups of espresso. That’s more than enough to shake my nerves up to consciousness.
In terms of the internal trappings, it doesn’t look like it’s going to easily break. All parts look sturdy enough. Plus, a friend who owns the exact same unit vouches for its durability. The rubber seals in his Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso Machine are still intact and airtight after owning it for over a year.
I’ve heard people complaining about the frothing mechanism. It didn’t really fail me when I used it, although some people say that it lacks the power to properly steam milk. Worked well for me.
Cleaning appears to be a breeze, too. The removable water reservoir and drip tray makes it easy to wash and dry. Not to mention that I got a tip that you can easily remove water deposits from long-time use by running vinegar through the unit.
Personally, I enjoyed using the Mr. Coffee ECM20. Now, I’m calling on my other friends who have the same machine. What did you think of this Espresso/Cappuccino maker?
